| SAYING IT (ALMOST) IN ENGLISH: A YIDDISH TRANSLATION WORKSHOP Instructor: Dr. Irena Klepfisz (Barnard College) This 8-week workshop on Yiddish translation will serve as an introduction both to issues inherent in translating from any language to another and to specific ones encountered in translating from Yiddish to English. The instructor will provide materials which address both types of issues and ask students to translate Yiddish texts of different genres and to compare and discuss their work with the class. Class limited to 14 students. Class conducted in English. |
