2022 Study Tour of Kraków, Wrocław, and Berlin

Journey with noted historian Dr. Samuel Kassow and acclaimed Australian Jewish author Arnold Zable as we examine the fascinating ways Jewish culture was shaped in these lands. The Study Tour will kick off with Kraków’s hugely popular Jewish Culture Festival. We will travel via Częstochowa to Wrocław, formerly Breslau, with its beautiful White Stork Synagogue. Then via Dresden on to Berlin, staying at the storied Hotel Adlon. In Berlin we will go to the Jewish Museum Berlin and meet with its Director, visit Wannsee, and Sanssouci. We will meet young Jews who are reestablishing and reinvigorating these communities. We will also examine the role that Eastern European Jews played in Berlin’s enormously popular cabaret and film scene in the ‘20s and ‘30s, topping it off with a performance at the Komische Oper of an all singing-and-dancing Yiddish revue!

The tour will be chaired by Irene Pletka, vice-chair of the YIVO Board of Directors.
