The YIVO Institute for Jewish Research is delighted to announce its participation in Carnegie Hall’s Nuestros sonidos (Our Sounds) festival.

This year, the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Throughout the year, YIVO will be hosting a series of public programs celebrating the 100 years since its founding.

The YIVO Institute for Jewish Research has received $54,000 from The Leona Zweig Rosenberg Trust to support summer Yiddish study at the 2025 YIVO-Bard Uriel Weinreich Summer Program in Yiddish Language, Literature, and Culture.

The 2024 YIVO-Bard Winter Program on Ashkenazi Civilization will be held online this winter (January 7-24, 2025).

YIVO will host the New York premiere of Burning Off the Page, about Russian-born American Yiddish poet and fiction writer Celia Dropkin (1887–1956). The screening will be followed by a discussion with filmmaker Eli Gorn, Professor Agnieszka Legutko, and poet Edward Hirsch.

The YIVO Institute for Jewish Research is delighted to host the US premiere of Proof of Identity, a documentary exploring Holocaust memory and Jewish identity in Poland today.

YIVO will host Two Revolutionary Jews: Leon Trotsky and Chaim Zhitlowsky¸ the first in a series of programs held in conjunction with YIVO’s current digitization project of the Jewish Labor and Political Archives (JLPA).

On Sunday, September 29, 2024 at 1:00pm (ET), the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research will host its annual Nusakh Vilne Memorial commemorating the Jewish community of Vilna – the birth place of YIVO.

On September 15-16, the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research will host After Orthodoxy: Cultural Creativity and the Break with Tradition, a conference and festival organized by “Off the Derech” (OTD) Jews (off the Orthodox path) and allies who have exited other strict religious communities.

On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, YIVO will host all the way from Australia the American debut of The Bashevis Singers.
