Retirement Plans & IRAs (Non-Probate Assets)
Retirement plans and IRAs are usually the largest source of taxable income when paid to a beneficiary. Consider designating taxable assets like retirement plans to YIVO and leaving your loved ones other assets like stocks or real estate.
Assets you pass on outside of your will are called non-probate assets. They include IRAs, 401(k)s, pensions, life insurance policies, and certain bank and brokerage accounts. Ownership on these non-probate assets can transfer faster to your beneficiaries than those assets that must go through probate (i.e. real estate).
Already designated YIVO on a retirement plan? Fill out this non-binding form to let us know so we can thank you and include you in the 1925 Legacy Society.
