Introducing the Online Yedies fun YIVO
Yedies fun YIVO (News from YIVO) has a long history in print. With few interruptions, it has been published continually since 1925, from the very first days of the existence of the Yiddish Scientific Institute, as YIVO was then known. It began life as an article in Literarishe bleter (Literary Pages), Poland’s leading Yiddish literary journal and then for several months as a supplement to it. At other times it was published as a stand-alone newsletter or as a section in other YIVO publications. Year in and year out, the Yedies chronicled YIVO’s activities.
This blog marks a new chapter for the Yedies: its transition from a print to an online publication. The new Yedies will offer everything that the old Yedies delivered, but also a whole lot more. Check here on a weekly basis for new features, including:
